Remodeling my Moms bathroom

Today I started the dubious task of remodeling my Moms 5'x7' bathroom.

There are several problems.
1. There was never a vent or fan to help get rid of the moisture, so the paint is peeling and there is mold.
2. There was once a drop ceiling and the grid was never removed and all rusty.
3. When the tiler did his job he had to take out part of the wall behind the faucet. He put in a piece of Sheetrock that was too thick for the existing plaster and then taped and mudded to "smooth" it out but really just made a big warp or roll in the wall. He also laid on way too much mud.
4. There is a cabinet above the toilet that is worn out.
5. The vanity is old and worn out with a 40 year old countertop in baby blue.
7. The walls are painted strawberry mousse pink over crusty wallpaper paste that was never removed.
8. The floor is peel and stick tile in faux pink granite.

The first stage plan:
1. Scrap the paint on the ceiling and walls. DONE
2. Scrap the mud around the tile in the shower. DONE
3. Take down the rusty ceiling tile grid. ALMOST DONE
4. Sand down the walls to a smooth texture.
5. Use KILZ to seal out the surface mold and provide a clean surface for painting.
6. Paint the walls a light mossy green.

The second stage plan:
1. Tear out tile floor.
2. Tear out vanity.
3. Possible remove the toilet.
4. Tile the floor and put in new toilet.
5. Install vanity and countertop.
6. Paint cabinet over the toilet white.
7. Install new mirrored medicine cabinet
8. Install Hollywood vanity light bar.
9. Install a vent fan to the outside.

Result the bathroom my Momma has been dreaming of!

Pet Peeve

Does anyone feel the same way?

I have a couple of my own businesses (Purple Elephant Designs- Interior Design and Avon) and I like to promote them by sending out emails and having Facebook groups.

Nothing bothers me more than when someone emails me and says to stop sending them emails. I don't know how I am supposed to remember that without deleting them from my address book. Because if I send something unrelated to my business they seem to be ok with that.

So, people who do this; why can't you just delete the message and move on with your day? People send me things and sometimes I don't feel like reading them, so I delete them. It is so simple and you don't have to offend anyone.

I am curious to hear your thoughts!

God Bless!

Photos of My New Tat

Here it is!

The tag says "Mikey"! It looks better in person, the photo is a bit blurred.

It is still tender even without touching it. I thought I was being such a wimp yesterday. I have four other tattoos and this one actually hurt and still does. Tim told me it is a very sensitive area and it generally hurts during and after. So I don't feel so wimpy now! lol!

New Tattoo!

I went to Twisted Fix in Hamtramck, Michigan to get a feather in memory of my cousin Mikey.

Mikey took his own life June 12, 2008 at the age of 22. Growing up we were close, but drifted apart as we became teenagers and adults. Mikey started to drink and do drugs and get in trouble. I didn't want anything to do with that and then ironically I became an Alcoholic too. However, in 2005 I got sober and Mikey continued his wild ways.

At the memorial my Uncle Bill posted a bunch of tattoos that Mikey drew. He wanted to be a tattoo artist and he could have, he was very good. There were many hearts and then a feather and a monkey that stood out. After we buried him I turned around to walk to the road. I saw a feather at my feet and told my family that Mikey was with us. Everyone agreed.

One day I asked God to use Mikey as all my Angel and to show me when his is there with feathers. Often I will be going somewhere and see one or many on the sidewalk, or one on my porch, in the backward, etc. I know my cousin is with me. So, I decided recently to get a feather tattooed on my forearm.

I know you are all thinking, what does it look like? Because it is gray-scale I don't want to show you until it has healed. Gray-scale tattoos are very dark after being done and don't have the actual coloring until after all the scabbing comes off. So hopefully in a week or two you all can see what it looks like.

God Bless,
Kristine

P.S. Karaoke tonight!

Starting AdSense

I was recently given information about using Google AdSense and found it to be very simple. So far I started a blog with Google, clicked "Monetise" to sign up for the program, I was approved and AdSense did the rest. As you can see I have two ads on my blog.

So what is AdSense? This program allows you to put ads on your website (or multiple websites) to earn money from people clicking the ads or just simply by visiting your site.

So get yourself a blog and "Monetise" it!

God Bless,
Kristine
